Prohibit NYC | Spring/Summer 2011 “Moonshine Bootleggers” Collection | Preview

The Prohibit NYC Spring 2011 collection takes inspiration from a controversial period in American history, the Prohibition Era. During the 1920′s when the sale of alcohol was banned in America, it created a black market that competed with the formal economy. The proprietors of the underground liquor houses, and unlicensed stills were referred to as Bootleggers. One of the most popular illegal liquors produced was a potent form of whiskey known as, Moonshine. The Prohibit Spring/Summer 2011 collection combines elements of the classic period, with japanese craftmanship and tailoring, while maintaing the Prohibit sensibility. The lookbook features some of New York’s most celebrated young music and fashion talent including Josh, and Travis of Street Etiquette, rapper Curt@in$, singer/rapper Rich Hil, downtown creative Va$shtie, and marketing guru/writer Emeka Obi. Stay tuned for the full lookbook.
